An old people’s home has appealed for period furniture and equipment in order to create a 1950s-style office to help elderly residents suffering with dementia to remember some of the good old days.

It was only last year that Coombe End Court in Marlborough created a 50s-style living room with authentic furniture from the period, from armchairs to radios.
Managers at Coombe End Court believe that it will help residents with untapped memories of this period. The home is run by the Orders of St John Care Trust and is home to 60 residents.
In order to create the 1950s office space they are looking for desks, office chairs, filing cabinets and an old-fashioned telephone, in fact any sort of office furniture from that era, including a typewriter.
